Perla Negra, the yacht sponsored by CMC, secured fourth place in the IRC Regata category at the GEN Glorias Navales Regatta

On May 9 and 10, the GEN Glorias Navales Regatta took place at the Club de Yates Higuerillas, the traditional multi-class sailing competition that brought together more than 60 boats and 200 sailors from different parts of the country.

Among the participants, the Perla Negra yacht, sponsored by CMC and led by captain Guillermo Acuña, stood out during the event. On this occasion, the team secured fourth place in the IRC Regata category, proudly representing the company in one of the most important events on Chile’s national sailing calendar.

Guillermo Acuña, Captain of Perla Negra, stated that “it was a challenging regatta with variable wind conditions. Despite that, we managed to take advantage of certain opportunities and finished in a very good position”.

Perla Negra has been competing since 2021 and is currently made up of eight crew members of different ages, primarily young sailors ranging from elementary school students and older, all sharing the same passion for sailing, the ocean, and teamwork.

In this regard, Acuña highlighted that the team has continued to improve regatta after regatta, achieving results that motivate them to keep participating in these types of competitions. “We have managed to achieve the goals we set for ourselves during the year, and CMC’s support has been fundamental to that. Little by little, we have been building a strong team based on consistency, effort, and dedication, and thanks to that, the results are already beginning to show on the water,” Acuña added.

Unfortunately, dense fog affecting the area during the final day prevented the completion of the regatta schedule planned for Sunday. Nevertheless, thanks to the results obtained on Saturday, Perla Negra secured fourth place in the IRC Regata category.

Looking ahead, the crew approaches future competitions with enthusiasm and ambitious goals. “Within our project, the idea is to continue improving ourselves. A new season begins in September, and we will have regattas through November. We hope to maintain this spirit of constant growth and ideally finish next season among the top three teams,” concluded Acuña.

At CMC, we are proud to support initiatives that promote sports, teamwork, and the development of young talent in disciplines connected to the sea. We also value the commitment and dedication of the Perla Negra crew, reaffirming the importance of encouraging spaces that foster perseverance, learning, and a passion for sailing.
